Equity Considerations
Often, community offerings are not inclusive of or accessible to all community members. Language accessibility, cross-cultural offerings, and hiring diverse staff to work in these spaces can help families feel more welcome, safe, and included in the community. For example, ensuring that libraries have books and resources in the languages most spoken within the community as well as program staff who speak those languages, outdoor spaces are accessible for all ability levels, and community events are free to everyone can help all families and young children tap into the resources in their community.
